| Corrections---it is Sylvan Lake, not Silver Lake. If you plan to attend the annual Buffalo Roundup, now is the time to reserve camp sites. We like the one with hot showers and electric hook-up. Non-residents are required to pay extra $7 surcharge per site. The night ranger's program about old buffalo roundup was history-rich and interesting. Modern coyboys seldomly go on horsebacks. They did the roundup on trucks. For your information, there is no MacDonald's between Custer and Fort Collins, Colorado. Custer has a Subway and one Burger King in Lusk, Wyoming. | |||

| One suggestion--Please pay Custer State Park a visit if you are back to the Black Hills region again. It is the most famous state park of South Dakota. It is right out the boundary of Mt. Rushmoore. Don't miss the north loop drives of Iron Mountain Pkwy (on the east) and the Needle's Pkwy to Silver Lake. It is curvy , narrow and very scenic with square tunnels with several viewpoints to see the presidential statues. The south loop is more for animal watching (baffaloes, donkeys, big horn sheep, etc.). The annual baffalo round-up happens on the last Monday of September. It is the only place you can see such in the world. The Coolidge Watch Tower affords you to see area attractions, such as Mt. Rushmoore, Ellsworth Air Force Base, the Badlands and Crazy Horse. The state park is full of historical heritage, too. With local merchant's vision and politian maneurs, they made Mt. Rushmoore a reality and brings visitors to South Dakota.
